On October 17, 2018, I filed a lawsuit to cancel the government's decision not to renew my provisional release in order to stop the deportation of Filipinos scheduled for the next day. At the same time, 15 Filipinos in Japan and supporting members gathered in front of the Tokyo Immigration Bureau to protest.
Ms. Loida's visa, which made her eligible for deportation, was revoked several years ago, but she then went to the immigration office for six years to renew her provisional release. However, on October 11, she was suddenly detained and on October 18, she was told she would be deported. She has devoted herself to running a private shelter for Filipinos living in Japan who are victims of domestic violence and living together with them.
Thanks to her protests, the day before, the Immigration Bureau informed her that tomorrow's repatriation would be cancelled! However, she is still being detained. As for foreigners in Japan who have lost their visas, every time they renew their provisional release, they are told by the staff, "Go home! Every time their provisional release is renewed, many of them are told by the staff to "Go home! The fight for the humane treatment of foreign residents in Japan will continue.
