From April 25-28, 2018, I was in Manila and Cebu to conduct interviews to help Filipino children abandoned by their Japanese fathers.
Japanese men (mostly elderly) and Filipino women (relatively young) meet in Japan or the Philippines, start dating or get married, and as a result, children are born. Later, the Japanese husband returned to Japan, and suddenly they lost contact with each other and the mother and child were abandoned. In many cases, we did not even know the father's address, only his name and photo. When I look at the photos, I see the father and mother smiling together when the child was born, and it makes my heart ache.
In the future, I would like to find the father in Japan, file a court case for recognition in Japan, obtain Japanese citizenship, and support him in many other ways as a legal professional.
